Vocabulary          Bacteria
Bacteria: Any of a large group of one-celled organisms that lack a cell nucleus, reproduce by fission or by forming spores, and in some cases cause disease
Flagellum: A long, threadlike appendage, especially a whip like extension of certain cells or unicellular organisms that functions as an organ of locomotion
Binary Fission: A method of asexual reproduction that involves the splitting of a parent cell into two approximately equal parts.

Asexual Reproduction: The kind of reproduction in which it is not necessary to have two parents to produce offspring. The reproduction of a single-celled organism through fission, and the production of spores in some plants and plantlike organisms, are examples of asexual reproduction.
Sexual Reproduction: reproduction involving the union of a male and a female mature sexual reproductive cell
Conjugation: The temporary union of two bacterial cells during which one cell transfers part or all of its genome to the other
Endospore: A small asexual spore (reproductive body of an organism), as that formed by some bacteria
Pasteurization: Heating a fluid, such as milk, for a specific period to kill harmful bacteria
Decomposer: an organism, such as bacteria or fungi, that breaks down the cells of dead plants and animals into simpler substances
