commitment to the gospel of Jesus and the continuing of his healing
ministry that encourages health, wellness, and wholeness of individuals

Are the Roles of the Parish Nurse? |

- Health
Educator
- Attempts to promote an understanding of the
relationship between lifestyles, attitudes, faith, and well-being.
- Assesses needs for the health and wellness
education within the parish community.
- Coordinates health clinics, seminars, workshops,
and information sessions to meet education needs.

- Outreach,
Information, and Referral Source
- Discusses spiritual, physical, and emotional
needs with parishioners.
- Makes home, hospital, and nursing home visits.
- Offers a supportive presence and a listening ear
for individuals who are grieving or are in need.
- Available to visit single parents to address
parenting and related concerns.

- Liaison
- Serves as an advocate for individuals in
securing services.
- Refers to and accepts referral from community
resources.
- Communicate with community and parish
resources/services staff to assist with care needs.
- Recruits volunteers and coordinates their
activities. Assists with training needs.
